CANADIAN ARTIST
A GICLEE PRINT (pronounced GHEE-clay) is the highest quality print available today.  The word roughly translated is French for 'fine spray'.  The process is digital printmaking with a printer that uses variable size, microscopic droplets of ink to create prints that cannot be duplicated by other techniques. There is no visible dot screen pattern so the resulting image has all of the subtle tonalities of the original art.  Each dot may have over 4 billion possible colors.  This process produces exceptional museum quality prints.  Brilliant color and rich texture have made giclee prints the reproduction of choice for artists, photographers, museums, galleries and collectors.  Long lasting fade resistant inks printed on fine art archival papers lend to a rich enduring work of fine art reproduction.  Giclee editions are usually smaller in number than lithography, serigraphy, or offset printing, making them much more valuable.  Unlike traditional printmaking processes, the last printed image in a giclee edition will be as vibrant and clear as the first.

Kallen helped design several parade floats for the local Rodeo parade, as well as completing several murals in Air-brush on vehicles for his friends.  Hospitalized after being in a car crash in 1981, Peter doodled in a sketch book during his convalescence.  He decided to enroll in evening classes through continued education and took courses in oil painting, pen and ink drawing, calligraphy, charcoal drawing and chalk and oil pastel.  Encouraged to attend University, Peter enrolled at the U of L in 1983 studying painting, Sculpture, Figure drawing and Art History.  Peter Kallen has also volunteered over the years to paint murals for Christian retreats called “Live-Ins”.
Today, Peter continues to paint in acrylics and watercolor and sketch in pen & ink and has taken classes with the Wheatland Society of Art, Strathmore, AB.
